Dance Champion at Magna Faire

Greetings to the Talented People of Meridies!

Our Gracious Majesty Deidre has called for all of those talented Meridians that wish to be considered for Her Majesty's Dance Champion and also Her Poet Laurete to present themselves to Her at Magna Faire, December 4-6, where these honors will be awarded.

When Will Saltare Be?

Getting Saltare 2010 scheduled is turning out to be harder than I expected. Several groups have expressed interest, but the calendar has become so crowded around the traditional February dates that no one can get a clear date. The dream of a summer Saltare may come true out of necessity.

White Rose Ball Preparations

His Lordship Iago, the autocrat for Spring Coronation (April 4 2009) is requesting assistance from dancers, specifically for the white rose ball. He would like for some gentles to be available for refresher dance instruction and new instruction as well as helping people dance at the ball. Instructors, dancers, and musicians should contact him and let him know if there is anything he can do to help prepare.

Saltare 2009

Saltare 2009 has come and gone. Attendance was not as high as we would have liked this year, and I suppose there are many reasons, the current economic situation not least among them. I'd like to thank all of the instructors, students, and dancers who incurred the expense and endured the drive to attend.

Before I go on to a tiny bit of business, I have a little video of Petit Riens being danced at this year's Saltare event.



I am entertaining proposals for a summer dance symposium (a pity party for those of us who can't make it to Knowne World Dance, perhaps). I would also like to hear from some potential autocrats who would like to host the event next year.

Membership and Rankings

I am currently attempting to compile a current list of active Saltare members and determine their rank based on the number of dances they can teach. I would appreciate all interested members sending me that information by either commenting on this post, sending a message to the Saltare Yahoo group, or directly emailing me (lord.runolfr@charter.net).
